![]() Glendon Place proudly presents The Nativity. For those of you who loved We
Three Kings, here is the next piece in the series of three designs. Like We
Three Kings, this design is bursting with rich color, lots of Kreinik
metallic thread and a generous amount of Mill Hill beads. The design also
includes the same bright star as found in the first design. Be on the
lookout for the third and final piece in the series later in 2008, where
you'll find the shepherds following that same brilliant star to Bethlehem! The Nativity is the well-known story of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. The remembrance and re-enactment of the Nativity scene are at the heart of the Christian celebration of Christmas. Although the exact date of His birth is undocumented, it is said that Jesus was born in the little town of Bethlehem in Israel over 2,000 years ago. While Mary was pregnant and near the end of term, she and her husband Joseph traveled from their home in Nazareth (about 90 miles) south to Joseph's ancestral home, Bethlehem, in order to register in a census ordered by Emperor Augustus. Having arrived in Bethlehem, they found no place for themselves in the inn, and therefore they lodged in a stable where animals were kept. It was there that Mary gave birth to the Messiah, the Baby Jesus.
