While Glendon Place may sound like an established business of brick and mortar, it's actually my residence and I am a "one-woman" show operating a small business out of my home. Glendon Place cross-stitch designs became a reality and the pursuit of a life-long dream on August 1, 2005, after a 25-year career in the financial services industry. I just told myself, if I didn't take the risk now I never would, and am I ever glad I did! Starting the business has given me a new lease on life. I have a passion again - a passion for cross-stitch!

When deciding what to name my cross-stitch design business, I made a long list of exotic and fancy names, but nothing really jumped out at me and said "this is it!" I thought and I thought, as I stared out the window of my home office. After quite some time, I caught myself staring at street sign on the corner, right below the old-fashioned light posts. I thought to myself, I want my business to sound like a magical place; somewhere off in a mysterious and distant land; a place where the grounds are the greenest of greens; a place that is quaintly surrounded by wrought-iron fences covered in ivy and the grounds are blanketed in multi-colored flowers everywhere you look. Can you imagine it and see it in your mind? A place where you can lay in the soft grass, stare up at the blue sky and breathe in the sweetness of the flowers in bloom.

Then it dawned on me … Glendon Place sounds like just that place!

I make my home in Valrico , FL (Tampa Bay area), with my husband, Allan, and my two rather exuberant dogs, Molly and Jeter (Molly being a Golden Retriever and Jeter a Miniature Bull Terrier). I can honestly say that I am guilty of spoiling them to death and they are like children to me!

I was born and raised in Brunswick, Ohio (20 miles southwest of Cleveland) and am the second oldest in a family of six boys and two girls. The majority of my family still resides in the Cleveland area, so I visit as often as I can to participate in family events and holidays. Christmas is my favorite time of year. If I had my way, I'd leave my entire house decorated year around! It's bad enough that my Pipka Santa collection resides in my three curio cabinets 24-7!

As a young girl growing up in the Cleveland, Ohio area, art and sewing were my favorite pastimes. I was also very lucky to have a grandmother who was more than proficient in a number of needle art techniques. Summer vacations were spent at her home learning how to sew, embroider, crochet and whatever else she would teach me. I just couldn't get enough and looked forward to each summer like a child looks forward to Christmas! The creativity just flowed naturally from her. I'd like to think that it was either good genes or osmosis that God blessed me with "some" of her talent.

As I got older, that love expanded into the world of cross-stitch; which is now my one true needle art passion. I'm just not happy unless I'm planning or stitching the next design.

It's been over two years since I started designing and publishing my designs. I'm still having the time of my life and pray that the Good Lord allows me to continue.

My sincere thanks to the independent needlework shops and everyone in the industry who have supported me by either selling my designs in their shop or on their Web site, or providing complimentary materials for me to design with. You have all been wonderful, I will be forever grateful, and I look forward to many wonderful years ahead.
